Collaboration between MDS Alignment and a UK Logistics Partner
All designed to meet your specific business needs
Mandy Deakin-Snell, Founder of MDS Alignment, received an enquiry via LinkedIn from a colleague she used to work with in her previous International MD role. The message said that their partner's engineering company was looking for someone to hold an import/export workshop to train their leadership team, particularly around:- Inco Terms, Import / Export Documentation and Customs procedures.

A follow-up call with the company was organised and it was clear from the onset that they wanted something more bespoke to their requirements using existing case studies of their own. They were using one of the big integrators and being charged more than they expected for sending machinery parts to/from China and the Czech Republic and wanted to better understand the rules around tariffs and the incoterms to use. They were keen to learn more about international imports/exports best practice and especially where they could save costs.

nterestingly, they had already shopped around some of the big training companies for an all-encompassing tailor-made course to cover everything they wanted to learn in one workshop. However, they found that most training companies focused their course specifically to one area of either tariffs, imports, exports or incoterms and they were unable to find anything out there that fit their requirements.

They were asked to send over their case studies, challenges and requirements and Mandy agreed to put a bespoke course together tailor made for them. However, when the examples arrived, it was evident that there was a gap in their customs knowledge, and MDS Alignment would need to partner with an expert in this area to give the client the best possible learning experience.

The perfect partner was a trusted UK logistics provider. Mandy has known the Founder and CEO for over twenty years and they had been a trusted logistics supplier of hers during that time. Needless to say, it was the perfect collaboration as they have years of experience with Customs and also have experts in their team to support their clients.

The material was put together and delivered successfully together in a one-day workshop. The leadership team at the engineering company were engaged, enthusiastic and complimentary about the amount of information they were able to learn during the training. They encouraged them to offer this training to other companies who would benefit from knowing more about the international world of importing and exporting, and also offered to promote the workshop on social media.
